Man first discovered that iron is a meteorite falling from the sky. Meteorites have a high percentage of iron (90.85% iron in iron meteorites), a mixture of iron and nickel and cobalt. Archaeologists in the ancient tomb, found aerosiderite made small axe; hidden as early as 4000 years ago, the fifth Dynasty and the sixth dynasty of ancient Egypt Pyramid religious texts, on account of the time the sun god and other important gods throne is made of iron. Iron was considered the most precious metal with the mystery of the Egyptians, simply called "iron stone". In ancient Greek, "Star" and "iron" are the same word.

Iron objects were first discovered in ancient Egypt in 3500 bc. They contain 7.5% nickel, indicating that they come from shooting stars. Ancient Anatolia (present-day Turkey) the Hittites, is the first from the iron ore in smelting iron, about 1500 BC, this new, hard metal to their economic and political power. The iron age began. Certain types of iron are clearly superior to others, depending on their carbon content, though this is not appreciated. Some iron ores contain vanadium and produce steel called Damascus, which is suitable for making swords.

Iron is widely distributed in the life, accounting for 4.75% of the total content of the crust, second only to oxygen, silicon and aluminum, ranking fourth in the earth's crust. Pure iron is a flexible and malleable silvery white metal core system of generators and motors for iron and its compounds are also used for making magnets, drugs, ink, pigment, abrasive and other industry, is described as "black metal" (one of the other two are chromium and manganese) (the pure iron is silver, iron is known as the "black metal" because the protective film surface of iron is often covered with a layer of black as the main component of Fe3O4) [1]. In addition, the body contains iron, +2 ferrous ion is an important component of hemoglobin, used for the transport of oxygen.

So wheel balance weights often use iron, its more cheap and useful than lead and zn.
